Two hurt in separate Busselton incidents

Two people were treated in hospital after separate incidents in which they were allegedly assaulted while trying to catch a taxi in Busselton overnight.

About 11pm last night, a 45-year-old man was waiting for a taxi in the outdoor garden area of a hotel in Busselton.

It is alleged the man saw a woman being pushed by another man. The male bystander intervened before allegedly being punched in the face by the offender.

A police spokesman says the punch smashed the man's glasses causing a laceration to his eye. He was taken to Busselton Hospital for treatment.

A 26-year-old Geographe man has been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm and is due to appear in the Busselton Magistrates Court on March 11.

In a separate incident, a 32-year-old man was walking along Marine Terrace Busselton about 1.30am, looking for a taxi when it is alleged a man ran towards him and hit him in the face.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment for facial injuries.

A 19-year-old Australind man will be summonsed on the charge of assault occasioning bodily harm and he is due to appear in the Busselton Magistrates Court on March 25.
