A 29-year-old man has been charged with assaulting Modern Family star Sarah Hyland after she was allegedly groped while attending a Qantas event in Sydney last night.

Hyland, 23, was reportedly responding to an autograph request with other members of the cast when an fan grabbed at her breast.

She immediately alerted private security guards, who called police, according to Fairfax.

A NSW Police spokesperson has confirmed that police responded to reports a 23-year-old woman had been indecently assaulted around 7:50pm on Thursday night.

According to the spokesperson, a 29-year-old man was charged and arrested with assault. He has been granted conditional bail and is expected to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on March 14.

Hyland, who plays Haley Dunphy on the hit sitcom Modern Family, had been attending an official Qantas event at The Sebel Pier One in The Rocks, Sydney.

The Modern Family cast has been in Australia since Tuesday, filming a special holiday episode of the popular TV show.
