A German backpacker died and four other tourists were injured in a crash near Coral Bay yesterday.
Paramedics were called to Minilya-Exmouth Road, 15km south of Coral Bay Road, about 3.40pm.
A police spokesman said the driver of the Mitsubishi Pajero lost control and rolled about 52km north of the North West Coastal Highway at Lyndon.
The 21-year-old German woman who was in the back seat died in the smash.
A German man, 21, and a 25-year-old Israeli woman sustained serious injuries.
They were taken to a local hospital and it is likely they will be airlifted to Perth today.
A man in his early 20s, believed to be American, suffered minor injuries.
The 22-year old female driver of the 4WD, a German national, received minor injuries.
A section of Minilya-Exmouth Road was closed while police examined the crash scene.
Inquiries are continuing into the cause of the crash and police are asking anyone who may have seen the crash to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
