Wanneroo bushfire warning

UPDATE: A bushfire warning has been issued for the western part of Wanneroo and the eastern part of Edgewater in the City of Joondalup.

The fire is burning near Lake Joondalup in Yellagonga National Park.

There is a bushfire Advice in place for people near Scenic Drive.

There is no threat to lives or homes but there is a lot of smoke in the area.

The bushfire has been contained and controlled.

The fire started between Scenic Drive and San Rosa Road and was reported at 10.09am.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area, reduce speed and drive carefully due to smoke.

Scenic Drive is closed between San Rosa Road and Ariti Avenue in Wanneroo, and Edgewater Drive is closed between Wedgewood Drive and Regatta Drive in Edgewater.

Aerial support is helping more than 40 career Fire and Rescue Service, Bush Fire Service and Department of Parks and Wildlife firefighters on the ground.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services has also issued a bushfire Advice alert for the north-eastern part of Tapping in the City of Wanneroo.

The fire is burning in bushland between Pinjar Road and Yandella Promenade.

It has been contained but not controlled.

Pinjar Road is closed from Galileo Avenue to Yandella Promenade.

The cause of the fire, which was reported at 9.46am, is not yet known.

More than 30 career Fire and Rescue Service, Bush Fire Service and Department of Parks and Wildlife firefighters are on the scene, with firefighters strengthening containment lines.

People are asked to report any suspicious behaviour to Police Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
