Five-year-old Im Victorious impressively won tonight's WA Inter Dominion Qualifying Heat (2536m) at Gloucester Park and looks a top prospect in the $750,000 Sydney Inters Final (3009m) on March 2.

Im Victorious, who started $1.70 favourite, ran on powerfully in a 1:57.6 rate to beat pacemaker Livingontheinterest ($5.30) by a half-head.

The long-priced Our Major Mark ($128) finished 9.5m back in third place.

Inter Dominion officials said Livingontheinterest's performance last night had also earned him a start in the final at Menangle.

Im Victorious's trainer Michael Brennan praised reinsman Gary Hall Jr's drive behind the gelding, who settled fourth and sprinted powerfully in the last 300m.

"There's more improvement in Im Victorious," Brennan said. "I hope he can be flown out of Perth on Monday week."

Hall Jr, who has driven Im Themightyquinn to win the last three Inters Championships, said Im Victorious would be a top chance in the final on March 2.

"He is a beautifully relaxed horse who is very adaptable in races,": Hall said. "I think he can be right in the finish of the final."

Former WA pacer Seel 'N' Print earned a surprise start in the Inters final when he scored an upset win in a qualifying heat at Menangle last night.
