Corby well and relaxed: Willesee

Schapelle Corby is "very well and relaxed", veteran Channel 7 journalist Mike Willesee said today.

Willesee emerged from the Seminyak spa resort where Corby spent her first night after nine years in Kerobokan Prison for smuggling marijuana into Indonesia.

He said he had not seen Corby since she arrived yesterday and had not communicated with her but understood she was "very well and relaxed".

He said he believed Corby was still inside the resort and that the expected interview with Channel 7 was not a sure thing.

"I would very much like to interview her," Willesee said.

His comments came ahead of the release of the first picture of Corby since she left jail in which her face is seen.

In the Woman's Day picture, which was said to be supplied, Corby is seen with her brother, Michael.

Willesee said media reports that Channel 7 may have paid $2m to $3m to secure Corby's exclusive interview were "just silly".

He said he and Corby were staying in different villas and that he hadn't personally been in contact with her.

Willesee said he didn't know which family members were staying in Corby's villa.

He said Corby's sister Mercedes was there on Monday, but he didn't know if she was still there.

“I don't know who's staying there, I really don't, I haven't been in there,” he said.

He said the interview was taking time to organise. He also said he did not know when or how any interview with the convicted drug smuggler would happen.

"As I understand it, Schapelle needs some time to chill out,” he said.

He said he did not know if there was a party for Corby at the Sentosa.
