Men stranded after car became bogged

Dion Direen and Jonathon Saunders

Update: Two men reported missing after driving between Halls Creek and Broome have been found.

Dion Direen, 24, and Jonathon Saunders, 27, were travelling together in a white 2010 Toyota Landcruiser.

The men were located with their vehicle a short time ago.

They are safe and well, but were left stranded after their car became bogged.

They were last seen in Fitzroy Crossing at 11.30am on February 9.

Police were concerned about the whereabouts of these men, given the high rainfall in the region over the past week.

Broome Police senior constable Mike Mahoney said the two men were co-workers and had made arrangements with their boss to resume work on Monday morning.

“They work for Eco Constructions based in Broome,” he said.

“They were expected back on Sunday night and had arranged with their boss to have some equipment ready for a job on Monday.

“It is very much out of character.”

He said with heavy rains over the past week, the pair may have become stuck in floodwaters.

“There’s a strong possibility they got bogged.”

Police from Broome, Fitzroy Crossing, Looma and Bidyadanga conducted patrols in the area.
