Man dies in Serpentine Falls jump
File picture.

A man has died after jumping from a ledge into the water at Serpentine falls last night.

He is thought to have hit his head after entering the water.

A search was started after authorities received reports that a man in his mid-40s had not resurfaced after the jump.

Authorities received a call about the incident just before 8pm.

Safety risks at the falls, about 50km south-east of Perth, have been highlighted several times.

Last February, a 19-year-old man fell 13m to his death from a section of the falls where more than a dozen people have died in the past 40 years.
