Police dog nabs alleged burglar

Police last night charged an 18-year-old man over a string of burglaries across Perth.

Officers searched several homes across the metropolitan area in an effort to locate a man wanted for questioning.

About 7.30pm police spotted the man in a car in Tendring Way, Girrawheen. He allegedly sped off, narrowly avoiding a collision with police vehicles.

He was followed for a short distance before he abandoned the car on Salcott Road and fled on foot.

Police dog Jimmy was deployed and allegedly located the man hiding in a yard.

The man, of no fixed address, has been charged with attempted burglary with intent, multiple assault, stealing and dangerous driving charges.

He is expected to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court today.
