More than 40 career and volunteer Fire and Rescue Service, Bush Fire Service and Department of Parks and Wildlife firefighters are fighting the blaze and aerial support is helping ground crews.

The fire has been contained and controlled and firefighters are continuing to strengthen containment lines.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services said there was no longer a threat to lives or homes, but there was still a lot of smoke in the area.

The fire started between Anketell and Mandogalup roads at 1.40pm.

DFES said the cause of the fire was suspicious.

People are asked to report any suspicious behaviour to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Road closures include Thomas Road at McLaughlan Road in The Spectacles, Thomas Road at Abercrombie Road in Postans, and Abercrombie Road at Anketell Road in Postans.
