They rose to fame on the X Factor and both released chart-topping singles last year, so it's no surprise Taylor Henderson and Nathaniel Willemse experienced a rock-star welcome when they touched down in Perth yesterday.
In WA to perform at the BHP Billiton Aquatic Super Series at Challenge Stadium this weekend, the Melbourne duo told AAA Weekend they were surprised to see a group of fans waiting for them as soon as they walked through the arrivals gate.
"All we did was tweet that we were excited about a gig in Perth," Henderson laughed.
"We get off the plane and all these fans are there, then we get to the hotel and there are fans there too."
Willemse added: "It's a good feeling when people are out there singing your song."
After international and homegrown swimming stars churned up the water at Challenge Stadium for the first races in the series last night, You crooner Willemse took to a stage raised above the outdoor pool to perform several songs, saying earlier he was looking forward to singing in the unusual setting.
"I've never played at a swimming pool before but there's a first time for everything," he said.
Henderson, whose debut track Borrow My Heart hit No.1 on the singles charts late last year, will also perform for a sold-out crowd tonight before the pair fly back to Melbourne to begin filming the video clips for their follow-up singles next week.
Both musicians said their new albums and tours were close to being announced, with Henderson promising he would make it back to Perth again as soon as possible.
"Are you kidding me," he said when asked if Perth would be in his tour schedule.
"There are people lining up at our hotel, how could I not come back?"
