A family bike ride in the dark sounds like a recipe for disaster.

But the annual Glow Ride on Saturday is all about colour and fun on a mapped-out route.

The ride is part of City of Stirling's Summersets Arts Festival of free and low-cost activities.

Andrew Paul got his family involved last year and is excited to add more glow this year.

"Last year we didn't do very much decorating because we didn't really get it, but this year we're spending the afternoon putting things on the bikes," Mr Paul said. "It's great. It's bike riding and they're enjoying themselves in a different sort of setting with a whole added element."

There is also food and activities before and after the 8pm ride.
