A 28-year-old Furnissdale man has been charged over a stabbing which left a 51-year-old man in a critical condition overnight.

Police allege the younger man breached a violence restraining order when he attacked the 51-year-old at a house in Deering Drive, North Yunderup.

Officers were called to the property about 11.45pm and arrived to find the alleged victim nursing serious chest injuries consistent with stab wounds.

He was rushed to Peel Health Campus then airlifted to Royal Perth Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition this morning.

It is understood the men knew each other.

Police have charged the 28-year-old with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, breaching a VRO and two counts of criminal damage.

He has been refused bail and is due to appear in the Mandurah Magistrates Court today.
