A 35-year-old man has been charged after he allegedly tried to steal a boat from a caravan park in Furnissdale on Tuesday.

Police allege the man cut a padlock chain and side gate at the Pinjarra Road business to allow a boat and trailer to be towed out of the park about 10pm.

It is also alleged he tied the trailer to his car using straps and rope because it did not have a tow bar.

Members of the public allegedly stopped the man as he was trying to untie the boat and leave.

He has been charged with stealing and is due to appear in Mandurah Magistrate’s Court on February 7.
