A man has been charged over vehicle theft and burglaries in the southern suburbs.

The man was arrested after police pursued a stolen vehicle in Kelmscott on Wednesday.

The pursuit was aborted after the driver of the stolen vehicle allegedly began driving in a dangerous manner.

The vehicle was later discovered abandoned in the Kelmscott Stargate Shopping Centre.

About 11am, the man, who is believed to have been driving the vehicle, left the area in a taxi.

The 36-year-old was interviewed in relation to a number of thefts in Thornlie, Como, Roleystone, Kewdale, Wattle Grove, Hammond Park, Redcliffe, Beeliar, Leda and Perth between November 2013 and January 2014.

The man was charged with six counts of stealing, four counts of burglary and commit and one count each of aggravated burglary and commit and breach of bail.

He has also been charged with two counts each of aggravated burglary with intent, failing to stop, no authority to drive, reckless driving, stealing motor vehicle and stealing motor vehicle and driving recklessly.

A 23-year-old woman was taken into custody and interview at the same time as the man.

She has been charged with aggravated burglary with intent, stealing a motor vehicle and four counts of stealing.

Both of the accused were refused bail.
