An innocent family was shaken but uninjured after a stolen car ran a red light and T-boned their vehicle at an Embleton intersection yesterday.

It is understood police spotted the stolen car because of its false numberplates but had not started chasing it before it sped through the intersection of Broun and Embleton avenues about 1pm.

A father and his two daughters in the car which was hit were shaken by the incident.

Witnesses claimed the driver of the stolen car tried to run away after the crash but was chased and caught by police.

A 46-year-old man has been charged with two counts of burglary, and one count each of stealing a motor vehicle, reckless driving, having no authority to drive and breaching bail.

He will appear in Perth Magistrates Court today.
