The fixed-price business lunch is booming in Perth as the city's premier restaurants fight for customers amid increasing competition and a shift in dining habits among the city's business elite.

Most CBD restaurants offer a fixed-price menu aimed at business diners, with two city restaurants, Frasers at Kings Park and The Terrace Hotel restaurant, selling fixed-price lunches for the first time.

"For the first time ever, we're looking at a fixed price two or three-course lunch option for $45 and $55 respectively," Frasers Group operations manager and executive chef Chris Taylor said.

"When the market gets tough, you get smart. It's all about momentum."

Taylor hopes to introduce the new menu at Frasers in a few weeks.

The Old Brewery Steakhouse on Mounts Bay Road, also a Frasers Group restaurant, offers a two-course $40 lunch "which has never been more popular", according to Taylor.

At The Terrace Restaurant, head chef Michael Illari says a new fixed-price business lunch menu will be introduced within weeks.

"The menu is being finalised now," Illari said. "We realised that business people still like to meet over lunch and they like to dine a la carte, but not spend big every day."

Illari's business menu is limited to a few choices and is likely to include Moroccan baby chicken with honey-roasted vegetables and couscous as part of its two-course $45 menu.

Edward Wolkowinski, co-owner with his parents of Halo at Barrack Street Jetty and Heritage Brasserie on St Georges Terrace says a "new dynamic" is sweeping Perth dining.

"Time restrictions are the new dynamic. We've got to get them in and out within 45 minutes, with their main served within 20 minutes," Mr Wolkowinski said. "These are the sort of people who respond well to fixed pricing. They don't want to be dropping $100 a head every time they come to lunch."

Halo offers a limited fixed-price menu at $39 and $49.
