UPDATE 6.15pm: A bushfire burning near Whiteman Park has been downgraded to watch and act advice after an emergency was called at 4.45pm.

The fire, which started is now contained but not controlled.

Homes in an area bounded by Harrow Street, Lord Street, Park Street and West Swan Road in Brabham were under threat but DFES has downgraded the emergency.

However, there remains a threat to homes if the wind changes.

Some 140 career and volunteer Fire and Rescue Service and Bush Fire Service firefighters were at the scene during the afternoon in 55 appliances are on the scene.

Crews will stay on the scene during the night.


Aerial support has been sent to protect crews and homes.

The fire was reported at 3.56pm. The cause of the blaze is not known.
