A female security officer was injured after being forced over a small retaining wall at a Booragoon shopping centre yesterday.

Around 4.30pm, a young man and woman were stopped by security staff after it was alleged that they had stolen several items from a spectacles store in Garden City Shopping Centre.

Police allege the confrontation sparked a struggle that resulted in the female officer suffering facial injuries after being forced over the wall.

A 23-year-old Wellard man has been charged with grievous bodily harm, two counts of stealing and possessing unlawfully obtained property.

An 18-year-old woman, also from Wellard, has been charged with two counts of stealing and one count of possessing unlawfully obtained property.

They are due to appear in Perth Magistrate's Court this morning.
