Driver charged over Christmas hit-run

Police have charged a man who allegedly drove into two pedestrians, leaving one man fighting for his life, in Armadale on Christmas night.

The 55-year-old Armadale man has been charged with two counts of acts causing danger to life and one count each of failing to stop and render assistance over the alleged incident on Lowanna Way at 9.30pm.

Jarrod McCarthy, 18, was critically injured and a 20-year-old man received minor injuries after the driver allegedly struck them as they crossed the road before fleeing the scene.

The man is due to appear in Armadale Magistrate’s Court on February 7.

Police have asked anyone who witnessed the incident, or saw the pedestrians or car beforehand, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
