Police officer accused of excessive force on teen

A police officer has been charged and stood down over allegations the officer used excessive force on a teenager at Halls Creek Police Station.

The 25-year-old Constable has been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm over the incident which allegedly occurred during a transfer from a police vehicle to the lock-up on November 16.

It will be alleged the officer pulled the teenager to the ground and resulting in him needing medical attention for a laceration to the side of his face.

Two other officers have also been stood down from operational duties while an internal investigation into the alleged incident is carried out.

The 25-year-old Constable will appear in Halls Creek Magistrate’s Court on February 5.
