Four teenagers charged over the alleged fatal bashing of a Duncraig schoolboy have been charged with murder over his death.

The teenagers – a 16-year-old from Balga, a 16-year-old from Warnbro, a 16-year-old from Westminster and a 15-year-old from Marangaroo – had been charged with grievous bodily harm over the alleged attack on the Duncraig teenager in December.

Prosecutors have applied to upgrade the charges to murder following the death of the Duncraig teenager on December 23.

The teenager – who cannot be named for legal reasons – died a day after he was found unconscious and in a pool of blood at a bush reserve in Balga.

Police allege the group knew one another and had arranged to meet at Princess Wallington Reserve.

The four accused – who were also charged with aggravated robbery – appeared in Perth Children’s Court today and were remanded in custody to face court again later this month.
