Ascot on hold again for heat

Perth's scorching heat has forced another transfer of this weekend's Ascot meeting.

With a maximum of 41C forecast tomorrow, Racing and Wagering WA and Perth Racing have moved the meeting to Monday.

The eight-race meeting, highlighted by the Scenic Blast Stakes, was originally moved from today to tomorrow because of extreme heat.

WA Racing Trainers' Association president Michael Grant applauded the move.

"Horses are still feeling the affect of heat from Friday and today," Grant said.

"It was 46 degrees at Adam Durrant's and 45 at mine today.

"The TAB will probably take a hit from it being on a Monday, but this is in the best interests of the welfare of horses and jockeys and staff."

Barrier trials scheduled for Lark Hill on Monday will be run Tuesday.
