Quad bike rider with 4yo passenger charged

A woman allegedly riding an unroadworthy quad bike with a child passenger failed a breath test last night, police say.

Police officers from the Traffic Enforcement Group were on patrol in Maddington about 8pm when they saw a quad bike on Alcock Road.

"It will be alleged the woman was riding the unregistered, unroadworthy quad bike on the road and footpath," police spokesman Samuel Dinnison said.

"The woman [allegedly] rode towards the police officers, who were in an unmarked police vehicle."

Police allege the 23-year-old rider had a four-year-old girl as a passenger.

The Maddington woman has been charged with driving with a blood alcohol level in excess of 0.08, driving a motorcycle without wearing a protective helmet and driving an unroadworthy vehicle

She was given an Immediate Disqualification Notice, police said.

The woman is expected to appear in Armadale Magistrate's Court on January 30.
