Police have released a photo of a man they would like to speak to about a CBD bar attack.

Perth City Detectives have called on the public's help as they investigate the assault on a man at Carnegie's in Murray Street on December 20.

The attack left the 26-year-old victim from Osborne Park with permanent eye damage.

"About 9.15pm, an altercation occurred between the victim and a group of men," police said.

"During the incident, it is believed that the victim was hit to the face with an unknown object causing a significant injury to his left eye.

"The victim was conveyed to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, where he underwent surgery.

"He suffered irreparable damage to his left eye as a result of his injuries."

Police said they would like to speak to the man in the photo, who they believe may be able to help with the investigation.

"There was a number of people in Carnegie's at the time," police said.

"Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or can assist with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000."
