Police raid ends Clarkson siege

UPDATE: A 33-year-old man has been charged after police stormed a Clarkson house while investigating a serious assault.

Officers were called to Kawana Place about 9.40pm yesterday after reports a man had been assaulted and possibly stabbed.

Police found a 35-year-old man with serious injuries.

A spokeswoman said a man, believed to be the victim's brother, barricaded himself inside the house and allegedly refused to co-operate when officers returned to the street later in the night.

"Over a period of the next few hours we attempted to negotiate with the man inside the house," she said.

"However, when those negotiations broke down police entered the house and we have now taken him into custody."

The victim was taken to Joondalup Hospital, where he remains in a serious condition with injuries including dog bites.

“Both the accused and the victim received dog bites during the incident,” a police spokeswoman said.

Rangers removed the dogs from the property this morning.

Police have charged the 33-year-old with grievous bodily harm and threatening to injure.

He is due to appear in Joondalup Magistrate’s Court today.
