UPDATE 2.20pm Jan. 2
A 65-year-old man charged with grievous bodily harm in relation to the death of a 33-year-old man in Kalbarri on New Year's Eve is likely to have the charge against him upgraded following the results of the post mortem.

Lance William Joinbee was to appear in Geraldton Magistrate’s Court today via video-link from Kalbarri, however there were technical difficulties connecting to the location.

He was represented in Geraldton Magistrate’s Court by Legal Aid lawyer Stephen Smith.

No plea was entered to the charge and there was no application for bail.

Prosecutor Sergeant Troy Gildersleeve said it was possible the charge of grevious bodily harm would be substituted for a more serious charge once the results of the autopsy were released.

Mr Joinbee has been remanded in custody until his next court appearance on January 23.
