Three police officers were injured, two police cars were damaged and a man tasered in a dramatic end to a pursuit in Kelmscott overnight.

A police spokeswoman said officers began to pursue a black Holden Commodore in Armadale just after midnight when the driver spotted police, turned off the car headlights and sped off.

She said police followed the car until Brookton Highway near Mount Street, Kelmscott, where the driver blew tyres and lost control of the vehicle.

The driver allegedly reversed into a police car, pushing it into roadside railings.

The spokeswoman said the driver accelerated towards another police vehicle but a third police car blocked the path of the Commodore and was hit.

She said the incident ended when the offender tried to drive off but his car was too badly damaged.

He had to be pulled from the vehicle by police and was tasered before being taken to Armadale Hospital for assessment.

The three injured police officers received only minor injures but required medical attention.

Charges are expected to be laid against the driver of the Commodore.
