Passengers on a Skywest flight from Esperance to Perth were evacuated from their plane after an electrical burning smell was noticed on the aircraft.

Skywest chief executive Jason Bitter said passengers disembarked during a scheduled stopover at Ravensthorpe as a precaution about 9am.

Mr Bitter said all Perth-bound passengers, which was about half of the 46 passengers onboard the Fokker F50 aircraft, were taken back to Esperance by bus to wait for another plane.

He said no smoke had been seen on the aircraft.

“We are doing a full investigation into it now,” Mr Bitter said.
