A taxi driver was robbed and assaulted in the South West this morning.

Police said it is understood the 61-year-old taxi driver picked up three men from Dalyellup and drove them to Hudson Road in Withers.

When the taxi arrived, the passengers, who are described as dark skinned, assaulted the driver and stole his takings before fleeing on foot.

The driver was taken to Bunbury Hospital for treatment.
