An Aveley resident who arrived home to find two thieves in her husband's car tried to block them in but was forced to move her vehicle when the offenders drove at her.
Police are looking for two men who broke into the family's Millhouse Road home and then fled in their Holden Calais, registration 1BFI 445, about 1.30pm yesterday.
The 45-year-old woman and her eight-year-old daughter arrived home as the men were driving the vehicle from the front yard and into the backyard, possibly to load up items they were planning to steal from the house.
When she arrived, the men drove into her, damaging both vehicles, and fled.
She then found the men had ransacked her home.
The driver was described as having an olive or tanned complexion, aged 18 to 25, with thick, dark curly hair. The passenger was of similar age and complexion but with straight black hair.
It is understood a Holden rodeo, registration 1CGQ 346, which had been stolen from Girrawheen on January 3, was later found by the Millhouse Road residents abandoned on the property.
That vehicle will be examined forensically.
