A Supreme Court defamation dispute between a female former executive and gas giant Woodside Energy has been “amicably resolved”.

In a joint statement released today, former commercial manager Jill Mustard and Woodside revealed they had resolved “all remaining differences”, including the Supreme Court case against the company.

The terms of the “resolution” are confidential.

“During her time at Woodside, Ms Mustard was a highly valued employee who filled, and performed strongly in, a number of senior commercial roles,” the statement said.

“Neither Ms Mustard nor Woodside is permitted, by the agreement between them, to make any further statements or comments.”

Ms Mustard was paid $170,000 last year to settle a sexual discrimination claim against Woodside. She claimed to have been sidelined from professional opportunities after taking maternity leave.

The stoush was complicated after Ms Mustard went public with her claims that the discrimination dispute had been settled. A day later, Woodside issued a media statement denying any agreement had been finalised.

The case was headed back to the Federal Court after unsuccessful mediation, before being settled by a consent order and payout in June last year.

In February, Ms Mustard launched defamation proceedings in the Supreme Court seeking $50,000 and a letter of apology.

She alleged that Woodside had issued a media statement during the sexual discrimination dispute that defamed her and claimed that Woodside’s then-chief executive Don Voelte had made defamatory comments about her at an industry seminar in April last year.

A judgment on a preliminary application earlier this month struck out parts of Ms Mustard’s claim, including allegations that there had been an imputation in the media statement that she had lied to a journalist. The matter had been listed for a directions hearing in February.
