UPDATE 4:20pm: Police have named the 51-year-old woman found dead in Maddington yesterday as Maylands resident Tracey Jane Holloway.

A 57-year-old Kelmscott man is being questioned by police after Ms Holloway's body was found dumped by the verge in a southern suburbs industrial area.

A truck driver spotted her body in long grass near a bin on Valencia Lane about 6.30am.

She was naked and had suffered major head injuries but it was unclear whether she had been sexually assaulted.

Police say they are investigating a number of sites in relation to her death.

The truck driver, who did not want to be named, described the scene as confronting.

“It’s not something you want to see, that’s for sure,” he said.

“There was no pulse so I called emergency services and asked for help.”

Police are today interviewing residents at a block of units in Maylands, which they believe may be connected to Ms Holloway.

Detectives will try to establish where she was injured and are expected to scrutinise her known associates in a bid to find out what happened to her.

Police do not believe the crime was committed on the Maddington street and are looking for another crime scene.

Neighbours said she was friendly but mostly kept to herself.

The Armadale rubbish tip is closed and has a sign saying it has closed due to police investigation.

The investigation is ongoing and anybody with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
