Staff at a Clarkson liquor store were assaulted when they confronted a group of thieves last night.

Four women and two men enterted the Thirsty Camel on Key Largo Drive at about 11.25pm and removed alcohol from the fridge before attempting to leave.

When staff tried to recover the items they were assaulted by the men. The females also threw bottles at the staff.

The group continued to throw bottles as people from the upstairs bar tried to chase them out of the store.

One of the males then removed a wooden stake from a nearby garden and used it to smash a car in the car park.

The group fled on foot and all stolen property was recovered.

Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
