A man and woman face possible mandatory jail terms for allegedly causing harm to a child while manufacturing drugs.

Mark Joseph Dennehy, 32, and Jessica Ellen Barlow, 27, appeared in the Perth Magistrate’s Court this morning charged over a July 31 explosion at a Betram property in which a four-year-old child was allegedly badly burnt.

They are both facing charges of damaging property, attempting to manufacture a prohibited drug and endangering the life, health or safety of a person.

Damage to the house caused by the explosion was estimated at more than $284,000 and it will be alleged officers found equipment used to make methylamphetamine inside the house.

Mr Dennehy and Ms Barlow did not enter pleas to the charges and will next face Perth Magistrate’s Court on January 31.
