The Weather Bureau has issued a severe weather warning for residents between Geraldton, Southern Cross and Israelite Bay.
Widespread damaging winds, locally destructive gusts and abnormally high tides will be experienced as the intense front hits the south of the State late today.
The area includes Dalwallinu, Jurien Bay, York, Perth, Mandurah, Bunbury, Busselton, Margaret River, Bridgetown, Albany, Katanning, Narrogin and
"This storm will be of similar strength to the system that affected the south-west on Sunday," the Bureau said this morning. "This storm is expected to cause widespread dangerous winds in excess of 125km/h that could cause significant damage or destruction to homes or property.
"Winds associated with this storm are much stronger than a usual winter storm and are likely to be of a similar strength to the winds experienced on Sunday."
The worst conditions will start late this afternoon or early this evening in the Augusta-Margaret River area, reaching the Perth metropolitan area later tonight.
By dawn tomorrow, winds along the west coast will begin to ease and the worst conditions will be along the south coast and inland.
The Weather Bureau has warned people in Geographe Bay of dangerous storm tides.
Dangerous surf conditions area also likely to cause significant beach erosion.
