The International Tennis Federation is expected to confirm today that Channel 7 will broadcast the 2013-14 Hopman Cup on 7mate.

It comes after Network Ten said yesterday it had "decided to pass" on airing the tournament, to be held at the Perth Arena from December 28 to January 4.

Ten issued a statement saying the network was "unable to reach an agreement with Hopman Cup Pty Ltd on appropriate scheduling of the event".

Its summer sports priority is believed to be the Big Bash League cricket.

Earlier this year, Seven West Media extended its 40-year relationship with Tennis Australia by securing another five years of exclusive broadcast rights for the Australian Open.

Hopman Cup organisers say they have assembled the strongest field in the event's history this year.

Big names who are set to compete include top-ranked Australians Sam Stosur and Bernard Tomic, Poland's Agnieszka Radwanska and French star Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
