It's an image that will delight Eagles fans - ruckman Nic Naitanui looking as fit as ever after throwing himself into a rigorous off-season exercise regime.

While the West Coast Eagles star has found time for fun during his break, holidaying in WA's south with girlfriend Elle Demasi and spending time with family members who visited Perth from Fiji this month, his Instagram and Twitter pages reveal he has also been pounding the pavement and putting in hours at the gym.

The 23-year-old was hampered by back, leg and groin problems this season but looks to be doing everything he can to return to peak fitness next year.

While some of his teammates spent their off-season travelling overseas, Naitanui posted comments and pictures of regular gym sessions, trekking along the Bibbulmun Track and outdoor exercise in an altitude mask.

Naitanui and Ms Demasi spent the weekend in the State's south, with the prolific social media user posting a stunning image of him on a paddleboard and others of the pair taking in the beautiful scenery.

He then asked his 48,852 Twitter followers for suggestions for the best wineries to try in the South West.

Members of Naitanui's family from Fiji spent time in Perth earlier this month, including a group of children who were sent home with new clothes and shoes courtesy of Naitanui and Ms Demasi.

Two weeks ago, he wrote on Instagram: "Sometimes I take a lot for granted. These boys n girls in the village ain't got much so (Elle) and I decided to buy them all new kits to take home."

Alongside another photo, he wrote: "So glad the family flew all the way from Fiji to play in the 7s comp and sing tonight at the fundraiser event. 95% of them had never been on a plane let alone leave the village. To see them smiling speaks volumes #blessed #lovethisfeeling #familyfirst."

Naitanui also donated his time to Telethon last weekend, where he was one of the most popular personalities.

Though the 2014 AFL season is months away, players will resume pre-season training in the coming weeks. The Eagles' first to third-year players return to the track on November 6, with more senior players to join them in the following fortnight.
