Alleged hammer assault in carpark

A man and three teenagers have been charged over an alleged hammer attack on another man in Karratha yesterday.

Police allege a 26-year-old Nickol Bay man was attacked in the carpark of Tambrey Tavern around noon.

He received serious head injuries after allegedly being struck with a hammer and lumps of bitumen

He was flown to the Hedland Health Campus by RFDS and is currently in a serious but stable condition with head injuries.

Police say there were several witnesses to the alleged assault and are asking them to come forward to help investigators.

West Pilbara Detectives have charged a 28-year-old man from Nickol and three boys, two aged 16 and one 17 years of age, both from Karratha, over the incident.

The man and two 16-year-olds have been charged with Acts or Omissions Causing Bodily Harm or Danger.

The 17-year-old boy has been charged with Assault Occasioning Bodily Harm.

The 28-year-old man and two of the juveniles are due to face the Karratha Court today. The other juvenile will appear in court later this month.
