Parker Bowles puts TV before royal baby

Britain has been hit by baby princess fever but Tom Parker Bowles isn’t too swept up in the excitement.

The UK food critic, who is Camilla Parker Bowles’ son, is in Australia filming new restaurant reality show The Hot Plate.

He declined to take a punt on what Prince William and Kate will name their baby daughter, who was born earlier this week. The bookies are favouring Charlotte and Alice, while Elizabeth and Olivia are also proving popular.

Parker Bowles plans to visit his tiny relative when he returns to Britain in around a month.

“When the filming is over, definitely filming comes first,“ Parker-Bowles told AAP.

“I’m sure I will (visit) in a month or so when I’m back.

“It’s wonderful news, everyone is delighted but we’ve got a show to finish so I’m not going to flit back.”

Parker Bowles is a judge on The Hot Plate with esteemed Melbourne chef Scott Pickett.

The pair visit six established restaurants across Australia and critique them, with teams given challenges and advice on how to improve.

The Hot Plate will air on the Nine Network later this year.
