Conchita has no advice for Guy

Austrian drag performer Conchita Wurst doesn’t think Guy Sebastian needs any of her advice before the Eurovision Song Contest.

“You know what, Guy is a superstar already, he got everything what it takes and he needs no advice by a drag queen,” Wurst told AAP.

Wurst was reluctant to give Sebastian any advice before he becomes Australia’s first entrant at Eurovision on May 23 in Vienna.

“You know we Austrians we haven’t won for 48 years so I’m not the one giving any advice to anybody,” she told reporters at the Logie Awards.

“He’s basically a superstar so he’s got it all. He’s got the voice, the song, the look, all these features. He is totally fine.”

Wurst, who is a gay man called Tom Neuwirth when she’s off duty, has become globally recognisable since her win at the song contest last year as a bearded lady.

She won her place representing Austria with pure persistence.

“In my case there was no selection. They just went ‘you’,” she said.

“The thing was I bothered them really and I annoyed them to death and they just surrendered, so lucky me.”

Wurst has been in Australia to promote her new album and walked the red carpet at Sunday’s Logie Awards.

“I have to be completely honest, I hadn’t heard about the Logies two weeks ago but then I got very excited. I thought ‘give me a red carpet and I’m in’.”

  • Wurst’s debut album, Conchita, is out May 15 via Sony Music Australia.
