Solo Sheeran back for stadium shows

Mere weeks after wrapping up his sold-out circuit of Australia at Perth Arena, English solo superstar Ed Sheeran has announced an even bigger tour.

The 24-year-old chart-topping singer-songwriter will play nib Stadium on December 2 as part of his second visit for 2015 and his first stadium tour of Australia.

Sheeran will also play bumper venues in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney, plus a date in Auckland.

As with his two concerts at Perth Arena earlier this month, the ginger-haired troubadour will perform solo armed only with an acoustic guitar and loop pedal.

The previous tour saw Sheeran entertain close to 190,000 fans across Australia and New Zealand, according to promoter Frontier Touring.

Sheeran’s chart-topping second album, x, has helped fuel the incredible demand for his concerts.

Featuring fan favourites Sing, Don’t, Thinking Out Loud and current single Bloodstream, the album spent six weeks at No. 1 on the ARIA charts and has achieved quadruple platinum status.

Fourty-three weeks after being released, x sits at No. 4 this week.

The busy Sheeran will barely get a break this year.

He is currently on tour in South America with shows in North America stretching from May 2 to July 3.

The one-man band then plays three concerts at London’s Wembley Stadium and two at Croke Park in Dublin during July before returning to North America for 15 gigs in September.

Sheeran kicks off the Australian return tour in Brisbane on November 28.

Tickets for the nib Stadium concert, which is all-ages, go on sale May 5 with a Frontier Members pre-sale starting April 28.
