Former MKR gals get wild

Last year's MKR runners up Chloe James and Kelly Ramsay team up with Telethon Adventurers Emily Parish.

Chloe James and Kelly Ramsay'''''' like to get “pretty wild” with their creations — and they hope guests at An Adventurous Lunch will feel the same way.

In a challenge of TV proportions, the feisty My Kitchen Rules runners-up from last year will cook for 80 people to raise money for TheTelethon Adventurers.

“There’ll be some insects, some animals you wouldn’t normally get on the table,” Ramsay said of the five-course lunch. “It’s about opening people’s minds to new food.”

The May 17 event at newFremantle venueThe Mantle isn’t for the squeamish but the duo promise it will be delicious, with a couple of “extra surprises”. Ramsay added: “It’s going to be a whole experience.”

“There’s nothing like this in Perth at the moment.Anyone who attends will be talking to their friends about it for a long time afterwards.”

The Telethon Adventurers was founded in 2010 afterRick andEmily Parish ’s son,Elliot , who they lost aged four, was diagnosed with cancer. They raised almost $1 million in the first year and have since been joined by actorGeorge Houvardas , cricketerMitchell Johnson and his wife, designerJessica Bratich-Johnson , as ambassadors.

James, whose sonDylan is eight, said she and Ramsay had wanted to work with the Parishes since meeting at Polo in the Valley two years ago.

“Anything related to helping kids is big for us, especially because I have Dylan,” she said.

“I’m so lucky that he’s so healthy, some parents out there aren’t so lucky.”

The pair have been busy since MKR — James started a food blog and Ramsay will soon launch a food truck serving sustainable food.

Despite rumours to the contrary, they remain close and run a private dining catering business they launched after finishing on MKR.

“There are stories that we’re going our separate ways because we hate each other and I need to rescue my marriage,” Chloe said.

“We’re still the same — we’ll be friends for ever,” James said.
