Man, 68, assaulted in Northbridge

A 68-year-old man is in hospital with serious injuries after being attacked in Northbridge early this morning.

Police allege a 25-year-old man was walking on James Street about 1.10am when he became involved in an argument with the man.

The younger man allegedly struck the older man in the head, causing him to fall to the ground and strike his head on the footpath, police said.

The victim was taken to Royal Perth Hospital and is in the Intensive Care Unit.

The alleged attacker was taken into custody.

Perth Detectives have charged a 25-year-old Kalamunda man with unlawful grievous bodily harm in circumstances of aggravation.

He is due to appear in Perth Magistrate’s Court next month.
