Tom joined the Seven Network in 2001 as a carpenter on “Room For Improvement” renovating and repairing people’s homes on the popular program, which did 4 series. ‘Tom the Chippy’ developed a TV profile after his accidental beginnings on Triple J with ‘Merrick and Rosso’ in the national broadcasters drive program.
As a reporter on ‘The Great Outdoors’ Tom spent 7 years travelling around Australia and the World, giving his passport a thorough workout. Visiting all 7 continents and almost every popular travelers site in Australia, from the high end of luxury resorts to the beaten treks of WA, the Northern Territory, Africa, Guatemala, Costa Rica and Machu Picchu…it was truly the time of his Life.
Tom’s also contributed to Seven’s extensive Sport calendar from the 2006 Turino Winter Games, 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, 2016 Rio Olympic Games and the coming Seoul Winter Games in 2018. As a competitive Surf Lifesaver Tom worked on the Nutri Grain Ironman Series and Australian Open Tennis Championship bring the excitement and colour of the premier tennis tournament in Australia.
The crowned Champion of ‘Dancing With The Stars’ in Series 2 2005, he then went onto host a revival of 90’s TV show ‘Gladiators’ in 2008.
As an original member of The Daily Edition team which began in 2013, Tom loves the excitement and energy of live TV everyday day of the week from 2pm. Great guests, great team and great chats make The Daily Edition, Tom’s absolute favorite TV show to work on!
Married to fashion designer Rachel Gilbert, and father to their two daughters Storm and Sloane, life is pretty busy. An active reserve in Surf Lifesaving, competitive surf ski paddler, there’s not many things he can’t do in the ocean. An amateur cyclist and still handy on the tools - it doesn’t leave a lot of hours left in the day.
