The Block's Leah and Ash blow up at their builders in fiery confrontation

The pair blamed their outburst on feeling 'emotional' following Sunday night's room reveal.

Tensions reached boiling point during Monday night’s episode of The Block when Leah and Ash got into a heated argument with their builders over water damage to their Melbourne property.

The married couple, who placed equal last in Sunday night’s room reveal, were furious after the wet weather impacted their working-from-home space and caused their ceiling to crack.

After receiving their disappointing score from the judges, the pair confronted their builders Simmo and Aidan over why their house wasn’t better prepared for the storm.

“What happened on Saturday night was avoidable, and it’s been a misstep,” Leah said, to which Simmo replied, “That’s your opinion that it was avoidable. We had 10 per cent of Melbourne’s rain in 24 hours”.

“But we knew that was coming,” Ash argued.

Viewers were then shown a flashback of Ash last week appearing completely unbothered by the news of the impending rain and admitting he didn’t care if water came through his roof, before returning to Leah yelling at their builders.

“You guys are not keeping things safe,” she said. “You’re not up to scratch for safety.

“You haven’t put your life on the line here, you haven’t left your family. I’m here to do a job, I’ve signed a contract to be a contestant and I will deliver a room every single Sunday.”

'I'm sorry'

The group of four continued to yell and swear at each other until Simmo declared he didn’t want to continue arguing with them.

“We all make sacrifices to be here,” he said. “I understand the position you’re in, it’s really unfortunate what happened last week with your room and I’m sorry for that. We don’t want that to happen.”

Leah, who works as a first aid trainer in the construction industry, then wanted the builders to guarantee both their safety and that their bathroom would “still be standing at the end of the week”.

“We are going to do the very best we can this week to keep your room as dry as possible,” he replied. “There is still a risk, there is always going to be a risk. There’s lots in play.”

The pair later apologised to their builders for the heated conversation, with Leah admitting it was because they were “emotional”. Ash also brought the pair of builders a bottle of Scotch at the end of the day to “bury the hatchet” and keep things civil moving forward.

Following the incident, viewers took to social media to criticise the way Leah and Ash handled things and put the blame on their builders.

“So ridiculous Leah and Ash are the ones who ignored the weather warning and now they are pointing the finger,” one person wrote.

“If I was the builders, I would pack up and leave. They can’t blame the builders for something Leah and Ash didn’t do,” another added, while a third said, “Leah and Ash are not going to get the best out of their builders treating them in this disgraceful manner”.
