Fans thought the business hopeful should have been fired

What did you miss?
The Apprentice viewers couldn’t believe their eyes as one of the hopefuls negotiated a deal by playing rock, paper, scissors.
Lord Sugar’s BBC show has returned for a new series, with a fresh crop of candidates hoping to impress in the boardroom and clinch the star's backing and a £250,000 investment for their business. The first instalment saw the contestants heading off to Austria where they had to sell alpine tours.
As stunned fans watched, Keir Shave used the children’s game to agree a sale price with a potential customer. "Is this a joke?" one viewer asked on X.
What, how and why?
In the episode, Lord Sugar told the candidates: “I am kicking things off by sending you to Austria. You will have to set up and run a tour, sell tickets and deliver your guests an unforgettable experience.”
When they got to Innsbruck, Keir and his teammates came up with the plan of selling E-bike tours, but they struggled to get anyone they approached to sign up.
They had originally priced the experience at €200, but in desperation dropped it to €100 to start with. Trying to persuade one potential customer to buy a ticket, Keir asked: "So the only thing that is letting you down right now is price?"
When the man said it was, Keir suggested: "Can we agree on a rock, paper, scissors? €50 if you win, €70 if I win."
They then launched into the game but Keir lost, choosing to go with paper when his opponent went with scissors.
Viewers were baffled by his business technique, with one exclaiming on X: "What the hell! Rock, paper scissors?"
"Using rock, paper, scissors as a sales tactic is actually crazy," said another, as someone else joked: "Rock, paper, scissors as a sales tactic? Lord Sugar is about to throw rocks."
"Absolutely creasing at rock paper scissors," admitted one viewer, as another wondered: "What has the world come to."

Another posted: "Am sorry but anybody using rock, paper, scissors as a selling tool should have been fired."
"Playing rock, paper, scissors to decide whether someone pays 50 or 70 Euros really isn’t a credible or smart sales strategy," insisted somebody else.
What happened?
Lord Sugar wasn't happy about Keir's method, telling him that "this is not what you apply in business". "You are gambling with the company's money," he added.
However, Keir avoided getting the axe, with fellow candidate Emma Rothwell getting fired instead after she failed to sell any tickets.
Pointing out that she had made zero sales, Lord Sugar said: "And you haven't explained to me what in fact you did do."
"My gut feeling is telling me, Emma, it is with regret – you're fired," said the businessman.
The Apprentice airs on BBC One on Thursdays.
