Man allegedly massacred girlfriend and family over ex's texts

A man is accused of killing his girlfriend and her parents because he was “jealous”, Bangkok media reports.

Nawaratorn Khunsangkam, 27, allegedly flew into a rage and shot dead 26-year-old Sawaros Kimsee after “he saw messages from her ex-boyfriend”, Thai police allege.

The triple homicide, which reportedly occurred at the family’s home in Chiang Rai, Northern Thailand, took place after Khunsangkam went to his girlfriend’s home and started a heated argument with her over the texts he found on her phone.

He then allegedly took out a gun and shot Ms Kimsee.

After hearing gunfire, the young woman’s parents Natcha Kimsee, 51, and father Oudom Kimsee, 56, ran into the room and were also sprayed with bullets.

The family’s bodies were discovered several days later after Ms Kimsee’s father failed to turn up for work.

A colleague went to their home and found the young woman and her parents dead. By that time, the bodies’ states of decomposition were advanced, making it difficult to easily determine what had happened.

Police Commander Suchart Teerasawat reportedly told Thai news site Thairaith the accused killer confessed to the triple homicide after he was tracked down in a car outside a 7-11 in Chiang Mai city, accompanied by his mother. Also in the car was the alleged murder weapon.

“The perpetrator confessed to the crime, admitting that he shot and killed all three family members out of jealousy,” Deputy Police Commander Suchart Teerasawat said Tuesday (local time), Bangkok news site Coconuts reported.

“It seemed like he didn’t think and that he was acting purely out of emotion,” he said.

The police commander added that Khunsangkam had allegedly murdered his girlfriend’s parents because they had witnessed the attack.
