Harley’s mum Kennia Lashawna Morgan told US news station KFDM the couple had been married for five minutes.

She added she witnessed the crash which claimed the life of her son and his high school sweetheart.

"I witnessed my own worst nightmare," Ms Morgan told KFDM-TV.

"That's an image that will haunt me the rest of my life. I won't forget it. It will never go away. I will see that truck hit my baby and kill my baby every night of my life, the rest of the time that I'm on earth."

Ms Morgan along with the marriage celebrant were present at the scene as police brought over items including a blood-soaked bouquet and the marriage licence, Beaumont Enterprise reported.

"The only thing they wanted was to get married and start their life," Ms Morgan told the newspaper.

"The two of them had so many dreams and they wanted their family surrounding them.”

It is not known if the driver faces any charges.
