Terrifying moment Sydney jogger attacked by stranger

Police have released CCTV of the terrifying moment a woman was attacked by a stranger as she was jogging down a Sydney street.

The woman was running along Railway Parade in Lidcome, in the city's west, when a man approached her from behind and covered her face with his hands before forcing her to the ground.

In CCTV shared by police, she can be seen struggling as she manages to sit up before he pushes her head towards the ground again, leaving her scrambling on her back at the edge of the road.

When the woman is able to sit up for a second time, he smacks the top of her head and runs away, leaving his victim stunned.

Thankfully, the woman did not sustain any serious injuries from the frightening altercation.

The incident occurred just before 7pm on December 29, but authorities released the vision on Friday in the hopes the public can assist with the ongoing investigation.

The man is described as being of Asian appearance, approximately 20-25 years old, about 170cm tall, of thin build, with black shoulder length hair. At the time he was wearing a dark coloured t-shirt, dark coloured track pants with white stripe and white shoes.
